Chairman's Statement

Last season saw many changes. This year, I feel that the club will start to see the rewards from those changes. We are probably more financially aware of our position than we have been for many years. This is due to the ‘Prudent’ Dave Smith. Our confidence in the potential to generate revenue from the clubs many areas of activity are enabling us to plan ahead and focus on where we want to be in 5 yrs time.

Rob Hawkins and the Rugby Committee have made a number of successful bids for finance in support of the players wishes for the new season.

They are the representatives of the players and must be made aware of players needs, ‘regardless of their ability'. The Rugby Committee is charged with the responsibility of informing the General Committee of all players thoughts. Let me assure you that the General Committee is aware of the Rugby Committee’s plans for the future and the Finance Committee, myself, Dave Smith Craig Parker, Malcolm Davies and Charlie Patten, will endeavor to provide the resources to achieve their aims.

This will be greatly assisted by the House Committee, Jayne Merriman, Clive Walker and the newly assigned Marion Newman are focusing their attentions towards enhancing the social life for ‘players and spectators alike’.

I have not felt so confident for the future in Tamworth RUFC for many years and I hope that you do to.

I will look forward to a successful 2001/2002 Season.
