Tamworth Rugby Club, and its association with local business.
The First XV kit will be fully sponsored this year, leaving more money to be
distributed throughout the club.
It is essential for the club to attract sponsorship to promote the club within
Tamworth and therefore attract new players to support an existing strong Squad.

It's a sad fact, but with the reduction in Schools Rugby the amount of people
actually being introduced to the game is falling. Tamworth is reversing that
trend with a successful and thriving Junior Section.
I was speaking to the Area Manager of Frankie and Benny's, Simon Sanderson,
He was impressed with the focus and direction reflected in Keith Borthwick's
article in the April Issue of the Newsletter.

It is clear that Frankie and Benny's are pleased with the response they have
had from the promotion they have run with us and they are eager to continue
it for the foreseeable future.
They have agreed a certain level of financial support for next season but are
awaiting confirmation of a refurbishment of the towns restaurant before committing
themselves.
The ability to show a benefit of being associated with the club is important
in the current climate .The reputation gained from proving the worth of the
advertisement is reflected in the advertisers continued interest and their intention
to increase its business with us.

Tamworth's First XV Kit Sponsor
I have great pleasure in welcoming Ian Walker of the Tamworth Arms to the club
as the First XV sponsor for the season 2001/2002.
Ian supports many other local sports teams, at both senior and
junior levels. He is now keen to be able to contribute to the success of Tamworth
Rugby Club.
Having recently refurbished the bar and restaurant aspect of the
premises it is his intention to extend the premises and increase the capacity
for accommodation We look forward to ensuring that Ian's involvement with Tamworth
Rugby Club will be both enjoyable and beneficial.

Tamworth's Future
Like most players at Tamworth Rugby Club I have been fortunate enough to enjoy
playing rugby and making friends. With this in mind I began searching for a
way to continue my involvement in a game, as I was approaching the end of my
playing career.
Having twin sons, John and Daniel approaching the age of 6, I started training
and coaching. That was 6yrs ago. As they grew older my commitment to the Junior
Section has increased. Having served as a Junior Committee member for 3/4 yrs
I was elected as the Chairman.

I have seen a steady growth in the number of boys and some girls enjoying Mini
Rugby, we now have about 150 youngsters enjoying Rugby Football in a safe and
appropriately supervised environment. We can now provide rugby for under 8's,
9's, 12's, 14's 15's, 17's and Colts.
We are organized, disciplined and operate a code of conduct that is to be observed
by both players and parents. We also have identified aims;
 | Fun rugby for all children |
 | A safe environment to gain discipline and improve social skills |
 | Provide quality coaching for children of all abilities |
 | Increase the awareness of people of the existence of Tamworth Rugby
Club |
 | Learn to lose and not just win |
 | To produce quality players to represent the club and Staffordshire
County with a view to representing the club at senior level. |
I hope this gives you a brief insight into the future of Tamworth Rugby Club
and I look forward to seeing you soon. KB
